What is freelance writing?

I write an article for you, your organization, company, whatever. All articles have a The Lessons of Life feel. If you are looking for an article on the latest gadget or economic analysis - I'm not your gal. I also don't slant my writing to your products or services. Articles written by me will ALWAYS have a 'greater meaning of life' slant and have the potential to affect your clients/employees/readers deeply. Most articles include easy-to-follow strategies for simplifying life and finding true purpose.

Cost?

The rate for an article runs between $.35 - $.50 per word. A typical article for newsletters or websites runs between 500 and 750 words. I will quote you specifically once I know what you are looking for.

Payment?

In this day and age of internet - e-transfers or paypal are perfect. If a company cheque is a must, so be it.

Who owns the article?

You do. Once written and payment is received, you own all rights to that specific article. Re-prints, usage, everything, rests in your hands. If you pay - I am not allowed to use it for personal use. No postings. No sharing. No selling it to another.

How do we contact you?

First by email. TheLessonsOfLife@gmail.com

How much time do you need?

The more time - the easier it is to fit into my busy schedule.

Anything else we need to know?

Yes. I will ask that my name be listed as the author. And I will ask that The Lessons of Life (web or email address) be listed.

Looking forward to hearing from you.
Much love, Louise

Bio – Louise Smith

On a professional level, Louise has over 30 years experience in marketing, sales, training and keynote speaking. She worked both in the corporate world and as a self-employed consultant specializing in communication skills training and keynote speaking.

Louise Smith is an avid mountain biker, hiker and outdoor enthusiast. After deciding to enjoy a slower pace of life, she semi-retired to a chalet in Central Ontario (Canada). Here she works outdoors as a Lead/Rescue Guide in an aerial treetop trekking/zipline park, and following her first love, writes daily inspiration for The Lessons of Life. Louise's conversational-style writing has endeared her to many and is the main reason companies and organizations are seeking her out to write a The Lessons of Life article for their own clients and employees.

After the SMA (Spinal Muscular Atrophy) diagnosis of her niece Rebecca, Louise gathered friends and family to organize a fundraising event to support cure and treatment research. 2011 was the tenth anniversary of the Esso Rebecca Run for SMA, which in conjunction with the Angel Gala for SMA (also inspired by Rebecca), has now raised over $2 million dollars.

In 2009 Louise published her first book, Death and the Lessons I Learned after nearly drowning in a fresh water lake. Her second book, Common Sense and Other Bits of Wisdom We Tend to Forget or Ignore was published in September 2010. Both are available on amazon.com (for USA and international) and amazon.ca (for Canada) .
